From Skopelos to Athens

The Question:

On the 3rd November, we wish to travel from Skopelos to Athens by Dolphin boat and bus. We have a flight to catch at Athens Airport at 1.30 p.m. Will we make it? I believe the boat leaves Skopelos at 7 a.m. - is this correct?

The Answer:

Hey,

Dolphin schedules have not been announced yet. You can come back at http://www.fantasticgreece.com/ in a couple of months and check the timetables.
If we suppose that the boat leaves at 7.00 am you need at least 2-3 hours until Agios Konstantinos port and from there, there are frequent buses to Athens and it will take you approxematelly 1,5 hour. From Athens city centre you need 40 minutes to get to the airport... so I think you must stick to the timetables if you want to make it without risk! Maybe it is better to rent a car from Agios Konstantinos and drive all the way until Athesn Airport. View the road plan from ViaMichellin site.

Cheers!

Taxi-boat to Platanias

The Question:

Dear Stavros
Firstly many thanks for your very prompt reply to my questions the other day. We are still trying to decide between Thessaloniki & Skiathos for flights. If we choose Skiathos the flight arrives early evening, so we need to know if there will be a taxi-boat to Platanias that we can catch at around 19.00h or later. Our arrival date will be either 26 or 29 May.
Sorry to ask so many things!
Thanks!
Judy

The Answer:

Hello again Judy!

Yes, you can catch one taxi-boat for Platanias easily, even if it is 19.00, under normal circumstances. The point is that there are not scheduled routes for these kind of small ships connecting Skiathos with Platanias. They depend on the demand and the turistic traffic. All you have to do is to get to the port of the island and ask the local authorities to arrange you the transfer. The cost is about 10 E per person and it takes 1 hour.
Furthermore, there are also ferries and flying dolphins available all day around and you could check prices and online schedule from www.fantasticgreece.com in about 2 months that the ferry companies will annouce it.

Best regards!

From Skiathos to Agios Ioannis in Pelion

The Question:

Hi Stavros,
Please advise - how can we get from Skiathos to Agios Ioannis Pelion on 10 September 2008
Jay

The Answer:

Hey Jay!
There is a flying dolphin service from Skiathos to Agios Ioannis in Pelion, but there is no fixed timetable on departures. This means that depending on the traffic and day of the week the itineraries are subject to change. As a result the ideal solution would be to ask the port authorities of Skiathos islands about the scheduled departures. The phone number of the port authorities of Skiathos is 0030 24270 22017.
Hope the people there will be able to give you the right information!

From Crete to Athens through the Cyclades

The Question:

What's the best way to get from Crete to Athens through the Cyclades?
Thanks ... Thea

The Answer:

Hello Thea!
I think the best way is to catch the ferry from Heraklion on Crete and travel to Santorini and from there catch the next ferry or plane to Athens!
It is the shortest route, with flying dolphin vessels and you will also get to see Santorini which is an amazing island!

From Skiathos to Platanias

The Question:

hi stavros!
Can you please tell me if there will be a ferry, flying dolphin or boat departing from Skiathos town to Platanias at the end of May 2009 and if so have you any idea of the timetable or what was the timetable for this year?
Many thanks,
Roger

The Answer:

Unfortunately, it is too soon for the greek ferry companies to have decided and announced their schedule for 2009. But you can call them at 0030 24210 39786, which is the central offices of the flying dolphins, and ask them for more information regarding this itinerary.
Thanks for your time!
