Ferry from Platanias to Skopelos

The Question:

Hello, we need to know if it,s possible to go by ferry from Platanias to Skopelos (direct)in july. We are a family with 2 children and a lot of luggage!!!
Thanks for your answer.

The Answer:

Hi!

From June in Platanias you can catch the hydrofoil to Skiathos and Skopelos islands (most of them stop first at Skiathos and then go on to Skopelos). The point is that these small boats departing from Platanias have no fixed schedules. They are being organised upon turisitc demand. In addition, it is not the best solution if you have a lot of luggage as their space is limited. In that case and in order to travel more comfortable, I would recommend you the route from Volos port or Agios Konstantinos heading to Skopelos. They last longer (4 hours) but have fixed timetable and they are bigger ships. Check out the site www.fantasticgreece.com for tickets. They will be online in a couple of months.

From Istanbul to Alonissos island

The Question:

Hi Stavros,
What a great website you have! Nice picture, too. In a week or so I will need to get from Istanbul to Alonissos by bus/train and ferry. What\'s the best way to get from Istanbul into Greece (Kavala or Thessaloniki), and also, do you think it\'s better/cheaper to take ferries all the way from Thessaloniki to Alonissos, or would a bus to Volos and then a ferry be better? Hope you can answer my question.
Thanks,
Joe Lennon

The Answer:

Hey Joe!
Thank you for all your kind words!
A bus or train from Istanbul to Thessaloniki or Kavala will take you almost the same time. So it is more a matter of how you prefer to be travelling. From Kavala there are no ferry connections to Alonissos, so it is better to get to Thessaloniki from the start. From Thessaloniki port there is a ferry by the ferry company GA ferries which leaves to Alonissos but it doesn't depart daily. Tickets cost approximately 33 euros. On the other hand, flying dolphins as well as conventional ferries depart from Volos' port daily. Tickets cost almost 40 euros. So I would recommend leaving from Volos to Alonissos especially if your times and dates are not flexible and because the ferries departing from there are much newer and comfortable. To get to Volos all you need is to continue by train or take a suburban bus KTEL to the city!

The Question:

Is there a ferry from Mikro, Platanias or Kastri to Skiathos and if yes do you know their schedules and prices?
Thanks

The Answer:

Hello there!
There is a ferry leaving from Platanias and going to Skiathos. The journey is almost 60 to 80 minutes. Ferry itineraries change depending the traffic so there is no final schedule. Tickets cost less than 10 euros per person.

Volos to Skopelos Ferry Tickets

The Question:

i want to take a ferry from volos to skopelos. in augost. shoud i order tikets befor or at the same day? what are the prices?

The Answer:

Hello there!
August is the busiest month in Greece when the majority is travelling. I would suggest that you book your ferry tickets in advance because you may not be able to find tickets at the port especially if travelling with highspeed ferries. This site could be useful to you www.fantasticgreece.com if you want to check out itineraries and book your tickets!
