From Skopelos to Athens

The Question:

On the 3rd November, we wish to travel from Skopelos to Athens by Dolphin boat and bus. We have a flight to catch at Athens Airport at 1.30 p.m. Will we make it? I believe the boat leaves Skopelos at 7 a.m. - is this correct?

Dolphin schedules have not been announced yet. You can come back at http://www.fantasticgreece.com/ in a couple of months and check the timetables.
If we suppose that the boat leaves at 7.00 am you need at least 2-3 hours until Agios Konstantinos port and from there, there are frequent buses to Athens and it will take you approxematelly 1,5 hour. From Athens city centre you need 40 minutes to get to the airport... so I think you must stick to the timetables if you want to make it without risk! Maybe it is better to rent a car from Agios Konstantinos and drive all the way until Athesn Airport. View the road plan from ViaMichellin site.

Athens to Skopelos and Skopelos to Patras

Hello We will be in Greece on Honeymoon in April. We are starting i Athens and tehn want to take a bus up to Ag.Kon and then across to Skopelos. Can we do this in a day ? More importantly on the way back is it possible to get from Skopelos to Patras in one day arriving in Patras in time to catch teh 6pm ferry to Italy ?

As far as the first part of your email is concerned, then yes you can do Athens-Skopelos in one day. From Athens you simply take the KTEL bus towards Agios Konstantinos (bus station tel. number 0030 22310 51346 at Liossion Main Ktel Bus Station) and from there, you get the ferry towards Skopelos Island. The ferry schedule has not been announced yet, but don't worry routes are frequent. Check them on http://www.fantasticgreece.com/ in a month or so.
On your return day, I would suggest you to take the ferry back to Agios Konstantinos and from there to rent a car and drive until Patras. That is why I am not sure if you can manage to be there before 6pm... To take the bus to Athens and then change station to get another bus to Patras seem to me a bit risky. Have in mind that each route lasts 1,5 and 3 hours respectivelly. Only if you start from Skopelos really early and stick to the bus timetables you will make it without rush.
Renting a car will be safer. The distance Agios Konstantinos-Patras is 212 km (3 hours) and you can easily plan your route from ViaMichelin site. Moreover, gas cost will be equal to that of busses' tickets more or less (e.g. Athens-Patras costs 18 euro!)

Well, there are flights from Athens to Skopelos operated by Olympics Airways. The cost is 70-80E per person one way and you can book it from the site I prefer for online tickets http://www.fantasticgreece.com.
As far as the ferry connection is concerned the ferry companies have not announced yet their schedules. They are expected to get online late March. So...stay tuned for availability and prices!

Ferry from Platanias to Skopelos

Hi!

From June in Platanias you can catch the hydrofoil to Skiathos and Skopelos islands (most of them stop first at Skiathos and then go on to Skopelos). The point is that these small boats departing from Platanias have no fixed schedules. They are being organised upon turisitc demand. In addition, it is not the best solution if you have a lot of luggage as their space is limited. In that case and in order to travel more comfortable, I would recommend you the route from Volos port or Agios Konstantinos heading to Skopelos. They last longer (4 hours) but have fixed timetable and they are bigger ships. Check out the site www.fantasticgreece.com for tickets. They will be online in a couple of months.

The route from Athens to Skopelos will cost you approximately 23 euros, from which 17 euros will be spent for fuel, and the rest for tolls. The whole distance is 171km. If you will be travelling during this period, which is off season, then the bus schedules are not that convinient, so it would be better to take your car with you to the island. Keep in mind that you also need to pay a fee for the boat which is around 95 euros, one-way.

From Pelion to Volos and Skopelos

we want to go on 8th of September from Mourisi (Pelion) to Volos and from there to Skopelos on the same day. We booked a studio for this evening and the following on Skopelos, so we have to arrive this day.We have found only one connection from Hellenic Seaways from Volos to Skopelos on this day. The departure time is 9:00AM. With the first bus from Mouirisi we can\'t catch this ferry boat. Are there any other ferry boat connections on this day to Skopelos, which we could take? Else, do you have any other idea?

How long do I need from Thessaloniki airport to Volos?

My partner and I are arriving at Thessaloniki airport at 13.45 on Sunday 31st August. We want to try and get to Skopelos that night. I think we need to take a bus or train to Volos and then catch a boat. Is this right and will it be possible to do it that day? Could you advise on timings and connections?

First of all, the distance between Thessaloniki and Volos is 213km and by bus it is approximately 3hours. The last ferry from Volos to Skopelos is at 19.30 and you need to be there at least half an hour in advance. As a result the last bus from Thessaloniki you can catch is at 16.00, but you will be in a tight schedule. Keep in mind that you need to calculate more time if the flight is delayed, or you spend much time waiting for your luggage plus the bus from the airport to the city center and the main suburban bus station. So it is better to decide at the time of your arrival if you will be able to make it or not, since many things are not in your hands. If you want to find out about the exact timetables of the buses, please call at 0030 2310 500111.
You can check for hotels at www.fantasticgreece.com, although during these days you will be able to find a hotel to stay without having booked it in advance. You can also in Thessaloniki, where there are more available hotels and from different categories.

Thessaloniki to Skopelos by GA ferries

Hello,my fiance and i are travelling from Thessaloniki to Skopelos on G.A. Ferries on 8/22/08. It appears that the ferry goes to Skopelos before Skiathos, is that true? Which of the two ports in skopelos does the ferry stop at? i was hoping it stops at Glossa port because that is where our hotel will be, Akrotiri hotel. The GA Ferry Ntaliana stops firstly at Skiathos and then moves on to Skopelos. Unless the weather conditions do not allow it, the port at Skopelos that the ferry will stop is Agnontas. 8 hours on deck is not that horrible but it depends on your needs and how willing you are to bear this.
