KTEL from Halkidiki to Nea Potidaia

The Question:

Dear Stavros
What KTEL bus number travels from KTEL halkidiki bus station to Nea Potidaia, and how often does it run ?
Thankyou

The Answer:

Hello my friend,

In order to reach Nea Potidaia from Halkidiki KTEL bus station you should take the bus every 05:45, 06:45, 08:00, 09:00, 10:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:15, 16:00, 18:00 and 20:00. Please note that the ones at 05:45 and 09:00 are being realized only weekdays (not weekends).
KTEL busses actually have no numbers. They are being named by the destination heading to. So, this very one will be called Kallithea-Athytos-Nea Fokaia-Potidaia. For further information you can call the KTEL station (0030 23740 22214).

Always glad to help!

Istanbul to Igoumenitsa via Thessaloniki and then ferry to Brindisi

The Question:

Hi Stavros,I am planning to travel from Istanbul to Igoumenitsa via Thessaloniki by bus in late March 2009 and then catch a ferry to Brindisi (Italy). Please would you give me an idea of travel times, cost and if I can get a ferry from Igoumenitsa to Brindisi in late March 2009.
Thank You.
Regards Bob.

The Answer:

Hey Bob!

Well from Istanbul you can catch the bus heading to Thessaloniki. The cost one way is about 45 E and the trip lasts 12 hours with one stop at Alexandroupolis. The bus from Istanbul towards Thessaloniki leaves once a day from Büyük Otogar (Main Bus Terminal) and you can contact this terminal to find information on timetables.
Then from Thessaloniki you change buses to Igoumenitsa. It is being realized one route per day departing at 13.00 so you should plan arriving from Istanbul ontime. The cost with KTEL bus between Thessaloniki and Igoumenitsa is 37 E and you will arrive at Igoumenitsa 5 hours later.
To get to Brindisi there is ferry connection from Igoumenitsa and the trip lasts 7 hours. For timetable you should contant the ferry companies directly as they haven't announced online schedule for spring 2009 yet. The cost is between 40 and 140 euros depending on the seat you will choose (deck, external cambine, etc).

Hope I helped you!

From Athens to Igoumenitsa

The Question:

Hi Stavros!
We want to go from Athens to Igoumenitsa so we can go to Bari, Italy.
I heard that you can get a bus there, but at what times and how often do they depart? Is there other/faster ways to get there (by train)?
Thank you!
Cass

The Answer:

Hey Cass!
You can reach Igoumenitsa by taking a bus from the Kifisos suburban bus station KTEL. Due to the fact that itineraries change frequently it is better to call at the bus station first to confirm the bus schedules. The phone number is +30 210 5125954.

Ferry connection between Skiathos and Mytilene (Lesvos)

The Question:

Hi Stavros,
I want to go by ferry from Skiathos to Mytilene (lesvos)Can it be done? What ferries and connections will I need?
Thank you

The Answer:

Hey!
There is no ferry connection between Skiathos and Mytilene (Lesvos). You need to depart from the port of Piraeus in Athens in order to reach Mytilene (Lesvos). To reach the port of Athens you can take a suburban bus KTEL from either Volos or Agios Konstantinos (ports where the ferry from Skiathos arrives).

From Istanbul to Alonissos island

The Question:

Hi Stavros,
What a great website you have! Nice picture, too. In a week or so I will need to get from Istanbul to Alonissos by bus/train and ferry. What\'s the best way to get from Istanbul into Greece (Kavala or Thessaloniki), and also, do you think it\'s better/cheaper to take ferries all the way from Thessaloniki to Alonissos, or would a bus to Volos and then a ferry be better? Hope you can answer my question.
Thanks,
Joe Lennon

The Answer:

Hey Joe!
Thank you for all your kind words!
A bus or train from Istanbul to Thessaloniki or Kavala will take you almost the same time. So it is more a matter of how you prefer to be travelling. From Kavala there are no ferry connections to Alonissos, so it is better to get to Thessaloniki from the start. From Thessaloniki port there is a ferry by the ferry company GA ferries which leaves to Alonissos but it doesn't depart daily. Tickets cost approximately 33 euros. On the other hand, flying dolphins as well as conventional ferries depart from Volos' port daily. Tickets cost almost 40 euros. So I would recommend leaving from Volos to Alonissos especially if your times and dates are not flexible and because the ferries departing from there are much newer and comfortable. To get to Volos all you need is to continue by train or take a suburban bus KTEL to the city!

Buses from Athens to Agios Constantinos

The Question:

Sometimes traveling in Greece really is a puzzle. Since the ktel.org site is down there isn´t a chance to get any information about busses leaving from Terminal B (Kifissou) to Agios Constantinos. Is there? Is it possible to get these informations from somewhere else? I am looking for the bus schedule for august/september 2008.
Thanks
Eddi

The Answer:

Hello Eddi!
This is unfortunately true... But I will try to help as much as I can!
First of all, buses departing to Agios Constantinos leave from the suburban bus station KTEL Liosion which is at 260 Liosion str. in the area of Kato Patissia. Besides that, unfortunately bus schedules are not published anywhere officialy since they change quite often. To find out the scheduled bus itineraries though, you can call at the information desk of Liosion Suburban Bus Station (0030 210 8317109) and ask specifically about the times and prices.

Late night buses from Thessaloniki to Volos

The Question:

how late do the bus companies run at night?i arrive in thessanoliki at ten pm and would like to try to get to volos that night, possible?
cheerz!

The Answer:

Hello!
This depends on the specific bus itinerary and the day of your trip. Usually there are scheduled bus itineraries until late at night and in the very early morning e.g. at 01.00a.m. To be sure regarding the bus schedules to Volos, and since these are subject to change anytime, it is better to call the bus company KTEL of Thessaloniki and ask them. The phone number is 0030 2310 500111.
