travel from Corfu to Volos

The Question:

Kalimera Stavros
Is it possible to travel from Corfu to Volos by bus in May - how long would this take and is it the cheapest option?
EfharistoDerek

The Answer:

Kalimera Derek,

From Corfu there is a bus going to Larissa, which is close to Volos. Volos is being connected with Larissa with local buses and train every 30-45 minutes. The bus Corfu-Larissa departs at 8 am every Tuesday and Friday and you will reach Larissa at 16.00. Ticket costs 41 E and in this price the ferry boat ticket is included. Larissa-Volos route is quite cheap (around 6 euros by KTEL bus and 2,5 by OSE train) and the trip lasts 1 hour. You can call at the station (0030 26610 28928) to find out more.

Always glad to help you!

Ferry connection between Igoumenitsa and Corfu

The Question:

Hi Stavros,
I will arrive in Igoumenitsa on Sunday 12.09.08 at 12.45pm, will there be still be ferries sailing to corfu town either that same afternoon, or early the next morning as we are catching a flight, from Corfu on Monday afternoon.I have checked ferry time tables and they keep coming back as 1 sailing at 13.15 each afternoon.I will look forward to your reply.
Kind Regards
Graham

The Answer:

Hello Graham!
There are ferries departing during the whole day and arriving at Igoumenitsa. Most of them belong to a local ferry company and tickets are only sold at the spot and as a result neither ferry timetables nor prices are available online. As far as I have checked there is a ferry connection every hour to Corfu. You do not need to worry since this is a local connection that serves hundreds of people daily.
Hope I helped!

Timetables of Seaplanes to Corfu and Lefkas

The Question:

Stavros,
another question, I know there is a seaplane flying between corfu and lefkas. Their site www.airsealines.com is out of order. Do you have a time table form me and a telephone number?greetings
Raijmond Pijnenburg

The Answer:

Hello Raijmond!
Actually this is a seaplane company that mainly sells its tickets through the website and through the phone. I can see that there is no access in the information regarding timetables, so here are some useful numbers where you can call and ask all relevant information:

Hope this will help!

Reaching Zante from Corfu

The Question:

Hello Stavros,
what is easiest way to go from Corfu(Dassia) to Zakynthos(Tsilivi). Our relatives will travel to Corfu, and my family to Zakynthos and we would like to spend one or two day together on either island.
regards from Munich
Sinisa

The Answer:

Hello Sinisa!
Since there is no ferry connection between Corfu and Zante, then the only options for you are either flying to Zante or taking the bus. Of course flying from Corfu to Zante will save you a lot of time compared to taking the bus or the car, because in the second case you will have to go to Igoumenitsa first and then deive until Killini which is situated in the Peloponesse and then take a ferry to the island of Zante. If you want to check flight, just visit www.fantasticgreece.com!
Hope this has been useful to you!

Thank you Stavros that was most helpful.
Also, in September is it safe to just show up at Naxos, Santorini and Corfuwithout pre booking accommodation, and choosing good places once we get offthe ferry?

From Athens to Ptolemaida and Igoumenitsa

The Question:

Hi Stavros,
I have to take the family from Athens to Ptolemaida, and after 3 nights go to Igoumenitsa to get the ferry for Corfu. How long does the bus take from athens to ptolemaida and is the train a good alternative? Also, how long does the bus take from ptolemaida to igoumenitsa?
Thank you
Athas

The Answer:

Hello Athas!
The bus from Athens to Ptolemaida will take you approximately 7 hours, even something more, if you take the bus stops under consideration. The journey by train from Athens might take you something more because it is a slow one and stops quite often...The journey from Ptolemaida to Igoumenitsa will take you almost 4.5 hours.
Always glad to help!

Bus from Piraeus to Igoumenitsa

The Question:

Hi
We are planning to travel from Crete to Corfu in as little time as possible. We were hoping to catch the overnight ferry from Kissamos to Piraeus, and then are hoping to catch a bus to Igoumenitsa and onto Corfu. Just unsure of where buses depart from in Athens and how frequently? Do any buses leave directly from Piraeus? Thanks so much
Claire

The Answer:

Dear Claire,

Unfortunately there is no bus leaving straight from Piraeus to Igoumenitsa. You need to reach the suburban bus station KTEl Kifisos and from there take the bus to Igoumenitsa. The Kifisos station is approximately 20-25 minutes from Piraeus port by taxi. Otherwise you can take the metro (green line) from Piraeus up to Omonoia and from there the bus 051 which will take you to the Kifisos Bus station. Buses to Igoumenitsa depart daily 4 times a day (2 in the mornign, 1 midday and one in the afternoon).
I hope I have helped you!
