Connection from Thessaloniki to Asprovalta/Stavros

The Question:

Hi Stavros,
is there any bus (or train) connection from Thessaloniki to Asprovalta/Stavros. Do you know how much would it cost to rent a car for three days in Thessaloniki?

Thanks for answering, Leo.

The Answer:

Hi Leo!

There is quite frequent KTEL bus connection from Thessaloniki to Asprovalta and Stavros every 1 - 1,5 hour. The first one is at 5.30 in the morning and the last one at 21.30. You can call on 0030 2310 522164 to find out more.
With the train I am afraid there is not a route that connects Thessaloniki with either Asprovalta or Stavros.
As far as the car rental is concerned, I cannot name a price as it really depends on the type of the car, the dates and the pick up/drop off location. You can insert here all the requested information and check it up by yourself.

Hope I helped you and that you' ll enjoy the region there!

How to get from the train station of Thessaloniki to the suburban bus station KTEL

The Question:

Hi Stavros,
I will be traveling from Sofia to Thessaloniki by train and then to Asprovalta by bus. How do I get from the railway station to the bus terminal and can you give me a link to the Asprovalta buses timetable?
Thanks a lot!
Elena

The Answer:

Hello Elena!
To reach the suburban bus station KTEL which is located at 69 Monastiriou str. you can either take a taxi or the city bus. You can also ask at the train station in order to find out the exact bus line that will take you to the bus central station. There is no reliable information on bus schedules, because they change very often and without prior notice! The phone number of the suburban bus station KTEL is +30 2310 500111.

Asprovalta Stavros Sites

The Question:

Hello, I would like to know more about place Stavros (near Asprovalta) since I\'m planning to go there in a few days. What are the places that I would supposed to visit there? And by that I mean on historical places! :)))
Thank You!!!

The Answer:

Hello to you too!
So Asprovalta mainly offers beautiful beaches but if you have a car then it is an excellent opportunity to explore some of the interesting historical sites of the area. There is a Tower from the Byzantine times in the nearby village of Vrasna that is preserved in an excellent condition. Moreover, you can also visit there the monastery of Saint George which was initially built in 1297. An excellent excursion is the beautiful lake Volvi which is under the protection of the state due to the rare species of flora and fauna. Lastly, you should not omit to visit the arcaheological site of Amfipolis. Amfipolis was a very significant city since the Ancient Times. It is from there that Alexander the Great started his journey to conquer the East, and even during Roman times Marc Antony used it is a base for his attacks in the Aegean Sea. Nowadays, you can admire the ruins of the ancient city and also visit the Arcaheologiacal Museum which is situated in the city entrance.
Hope I have helped!
