Bus from Piraeus to Igoumenitsa

The Question:

Hi
We are planning to travel from Crete to Corfu in as little time as possible. We were hoping to catch the overnight ferry from Kissamos to Piraeus, and then are hoping to catch a bus to Igoumenitsa and onto Corfu. Just unsure of where buses depart from in Athens and how frequently? Do any buses leave directly from Piraeus? Thanks so much
Claire

The Answer:

Dear Claire,

Unfortunately there is no bus leaving straight from Piraeus to Igoumenitsa. You need to reach the suburban bus station KTEl Kifisos and from there take the bus to Igoumenitsa. The Kifisos station is approximately 20-25 minutes from Piraeus port by taxi. Otherwise you can take the metro (green line) from Piraeus up to Omonoia and from there the bus 051 which will take you to the Kifisos Bus station. Buses to Igoumenitsa depart daily 4 times a day (2 in the mornign, 1 midday and one in the afternoon).
I hope I have helped you!

Driving from Karpenisi to Amfilochia

Tha Question:

Dear Stavros,
Can I go with my car from Karpenisi to Amfilochia through Frangista - Triklino - Podogora - Amfilochia or it is better to go through Karpenisi - Agrinio - Amfilocia ?
thank you
dr. Miller

The Answer:

Dear dr. Miller,
I believe both ways are convinient for you. The first way is shorter compared to the second one but there are lots of curves which you will have to face while driving. If this is ok with you, then the landscape is also very beautiful! Just be careful with the signs on the streets!

Shortest way to Milina, Amaliapoli, Pegadi, Palaio Trikeri

The Question:

Kalimera!
I am looking for the fastest route from Athens (airport) to either of:
a) Milina (the sunsail boat base)
b) Amaloupoulos
c) Pegadi
d) Palaio Trikeri
No need to answer to all three, I just need to be able to join my family (on a boat) at one of these 4 points.
Many thanks in advance !!

The Answer:

Kalimera!
I believe that tha shortest and easiest way is to Milina. To reach Milina, you need to take a suburban bus from the Liosion Bus station in Athens until Volos and then take the regional bus to Milina. Unless you can rent a car from the Athens International Airport and arrange to drop it in Volos? If you are interested in something like that you can book your car at www.fantasticgreece.com.
The rest of the regions you are referring to are harder to reach since there are no frequent bus connections. Moreover, Palaio Trikeri is a small island which is hard to reach also.
Don't hesitate to ask me anything else you may need!
Always glad to help!

Taxi Cost from Thessaloniki to Milina/ Volos

The Question:

Could you please tell me the approximate cost and journey time of a taxi from Thessaloniki Airport to Milina. I\'d also be grateful for information about other travel options, eg buses to Volos and Milina, and the timing and costs of these. (Previously I have flown to Volos but the flights from London have now become very expensive in August.)
Many thanks

The Answer:

Hello!
Taking a taxi from a city to reach another one in Greece can be quite expensive. Nevertheless it is worth asking a greek taxi company first, because sometimes it can be more convinient. Each taxi company has different prices for different routes. I asked the taxi company (www.thetaxi.gr) and they informed me that the cost from Thessaloniki to Milina is 250€ and lasts almost 3 hours. If you take the taxi until Volos, then the cost is 220€ and the journey time 2,5 hours.
Another travel option are the suburban buses KTEL. This kind of buses usually take longer to reach a destination, due to the frequent stops in other villages, but tickets are cheaper. More specifically, a bus ticket from Thessaloniki to Volos will not cost you more than 25 euros.
I hope I managed to help you!

Best way to reach Athens Airport from Volos or Agios Konstantinos

The Question:

Best way to reach Athens Air port from Volos or from Ag. Konstantinos by bus or by train.
Thank you

The Answer:

Hello there!
I would suggest the train because as soon as you arrive in Athens you will be able to easily change to the Suburban railway which will take you straight to the Athens International Airport. From the bus station of Liosion in Athens you will have to change at least 2 different means of transport to finally reach the airport.

Taxi from Athens International Airport to Milina

The Question:

How much will it cost to hire a taxi to go from Athens airport to Milina and how long does it take.
Thanks

The Answer:

Always glad to help you out whenever I can!
The taxi from the Athens International Airport to Milina will take you approximately 4 hours. But since this is a mini-trip, taxis should be booked in advance. Taxis waiting at the airport will not take you to Milina unless you have previously made arrangements with them. So it is advisable to call a greek taxi company and ask them regarding the destination and the price (since there is no specific price list for destinations like that) and arrange with them your pick up from the airport!

Travelling to Skiathos by Bus and Ferry

The Question:

Hi there,
I need to get from Athens to Skiathos and back again, but I am having trouble finding flights - is there any other way you can reccomend?
Thanks
Bronwyn

The Answer:

Thank you for asking me stuff!
So, there is actually a flight connection between Athens and Skiathos but unfotunately there is only one flight per day and airplanes have approximately 40 seats capacity which means that everything is fully booked two months in advance.
You can also reach Skiathos by bus and ferry. You can take the suburban bus KTEL from the Athens central bus station under the name "KTEL Liosion", which can easily be reached as I mention in aprevious answer of mine, and head to Volos or Agios Constantinos. Both cities have ports from where ferries to Skiathos depart daily and with more than 3 itineraries per day and no availability problems in general.
I hope this has worked for you!

Journey Time Rhodes - Kos - Santorini by Ferry

The Question:

how long does it take on the ferry from rhodes to kos and santorini.cheers

The Answer:

Thank you for the question!
If you take the GA ferry "Dimitroula", then the journey from Rhodes to Kos will take you approximately 4 hours and 40 minutes. If you take the Blue Star ferry "Blue Star 2", then the journey will last 2 hours and 45 minutes. From Kosthere is no ferry connection to Santorini, but you can take a ferry from Rhodes and the journey will last approximately 1,5 hours.
Keep in mind that ferry itineraries are subject to change. I suggest you double check ferry itineraries with a website that can give you relevant and reliable information (e.g. http://www.fantasticgreece.com/) or even with the port authorities of the area.
I hope this has helped you!

Transportation to and from Volos

The Question:

Best way to get to port of pireaus from volos?
Best way to get from Athens international airport to Volos?

The Answer:

Thank you for the question!
So, if you are already in Volos, then you need to take the suburban bus (KTEL) which will take you to Athens. As soon as the bus arrives in Athens you will be at the Liosion Suburban Bus Station (KTEL Liosion). From there you can take a bus that goes straight to the metro (green line) and the station's name is "Kato Patisia". By using the metro and taking off at Piraeus (last station) you will have arrives right outside the port of Piraeus.
From the Athens International Airport it is better to take the metro (blue line) and change at Monastiraki to the green line and then take off at Kato Patisia station. From there you can take a bus that will take you to the Liosion Suburban Bus Station (KTEL Liosion) and from there take the suburban bus to Volos.
There are more than one bus lines that can take you from the Kato Patisia station to the Liosion Suburban Bus station. It is better check the bus itineraries first before boarding on one or just ask at the metro station!
I hope this has helped you!

Stavros Chalkidiki Lodging

The Question:

I would like to ask whwer i could find an apartman in Stavros near the beach, aproximative 50meters from the apartman?

The Answer:

That is a tricky question!
There are numerous regions under this name in Greece. For example there is Stavros near the island of Ithaca, Stavros in Chalkidiki near Thessaloniki and Stavros in Larissa.
If you are referring to Stavros in Chalkidiki, then there are not many lodgings listed through the internet for this specific region of Greece and the information you give to me is very limited. Nevertheless, you could check out the website http://www.fantasticgreece.com/ to see if there are any hotels or apartments available in this area. If you can't find anything on that area, then Thessaloniki and many smaller villages in Chalkidiki are also very beautiful and offer many kinds of accommodation!
