Bus from Piraeus to Igoumenitsa
The Question:
Hi
We are planning to travel from Crete to Corfu in as little time as possible. We were hoping to catch the overnight ferry from Kissamos to Piraeus, and then are hoping to catch a bus to Igoumenitsa and onto Corfu. Just unsure of where buses depart from in Athens and how frequently? Do any buses leave directly from Piraeus? Thanks so much
Claire
The Answer:
Dear Claire,
Unfortunately there is no bus leaving straight from Piraeus to Igoumenitsa. You need to reach the suburban bus station KTEl Kifisos and from there take the bus to Igoumenitsa. The Kifisos station is approximately 20-25 minutes from Piraeus port by taxi. Otherwise you can take the metro (green line) from Piraeus up to Omonoia and from there the bus 051 which will take you to the Kifisos Bus station. Buses to Igoumenitsa depart daily 4 times a day (2 in the mornign, 1 midday and one in the afternoon).
I hope I have helped you!

hi Stavros,
Your forum is a great service - far better information than the travel agents!
We arrive in Piraeus at 1530 and could choose three options: Train to Patra then overnight to Corfu; Bus to Igoumenitsa then first ferry to Corfu or car to Igoumenitsa then first ferry to Corfu.
The last option is only worthwhile if it gets us to Corfu before nine pm as we still have to travel to Kato Korakiana; otherwise we could go overnight or stay in either Athens or Piraeus then take and early ferry but then we must be in Corfu before 1100 next day for a lift.
A car costs about E55 which i think makes it reasonably competitive with bus as we can go direct from Piraeus to Igoumenitsa.
Have I got all of that right? Of the three options which would you expect to be most time and cost effective?
hi, i am hoping to follow a similar route but the other way round. i want to get a bus from igoumenitsa to piraeus, would this be possible do you think?
and how long would it take?
also, how much do you think it would be?
Thank you very much!
